The galvanization procedure in the mouth and its effects on our health

Did you know that the minerals used in mouth restoratives substances mix with saliva, which acts as a conductor, flowing an abnormally high electrical current into your head? The result is that the oral cavity essentially becomes a living battery.
Oral galvanization has been discussed for over a century, but dentists are generally unaware of this phenomenon and its implications. When combined with an electrolyte such as saliva, metals such as gold and titanium can create, due to redox, a battery rated at over three volts.
The body’s regular electrical (bioenergetic) reading is about 450 millivolts, but when the amalgam or metal fillings are mixed with saliva, a measurable electrical current of up to 1,000 millivolts can be detected. This highly charged electrical current is suspected of overriding the body’s normal electrical currents and potentially interfering with energy flow to the brain. Additionally, it is supposed to cause various irritations to the nervous system.
However, since the nervous system operates at electrical potentials on the order of 0.140 volts, the electrical energy from dental metals, which is unexpectedly transferred through anatomical structures and spaces, can interfere with the normal functioning of the nervous system.
Sometimes, we might experience localized pain or disproportionately increased muscle tone. That contains neurological symptoms, such as:
- Jaw pressure,
- Temporomandibular syndrome,
- Headache or skin pallor due to low vasoconstriction.
How does it work
There are two types of electrical activity at the surface of a fill. One is like a regular battery, called “bimetallic”, and occurs when two or more dissimilar metals are in an electrically conductive electrolyte solution. This bimetallic activity will produce a current or flow of electrons.
The other type of electrical activity is called differential ventilation. It happens between the saliva and the areas that contain different amounts of oxygen. The saliva covers a filling, and there is less oxygen over the enamel that has not been restored. In this way, differential ventilation generates a current.
Possible oral electroplating problems
Electric currents and ionic flow between dental alloys irritate the trigeminal nerve, the primary cranial nervous system. They block the flow of the leading acupuncture meridians, which can, in turn, lead to more significant dysfunction throughout the body.
Electroplating can cause or contribute to physical conditions such as:
- Epilepsy
- Hearing loss
- Eye problems
- Insomnia
- Psychological disorders
- Tinnitus
- Lack of concentration and memory
- Vertigo
- Pain in the mouth
Additionally, galvanizing can cause:
- Headaches,
- Unpleasant metallic taste in the mouth,
- fainting spells,
- Motion sickness,
- Burning sensation in the tongue and
- Unusual dry mouth.
Medicines may relieve some of these symptoms. The best solution seems to be to remove the material and replace it with a more biocompatible material, especially considering that long-term use of drugs can have serious side effects.
How to recognize galvanization
When mercury fillings are close to gold crowns, the mercury released into the body can be up to ten times higher. A visible warning sign of galvanization is corrosion of the metal at the mouth. This corrosion results in the leaching of metal ions into the body, which can cause allergic or pathogenic disorders.
In cases of gold or amalgam fillings, signs of oxidation are strong indicators of galvanization, leading to the release of heavy metals into the body.
Aggravation of diseases and possible solutions
Once different dental minerals release into the body through electroplating, trauma or corrosion, they are attracted to other tissues in the human body.
For example, the mercury will migrate to the brain, joints and kidneys. Beryllium, used in dental alloys, will deposit in the liver and kidneys.

Dental adhesives and paints contain cadmium which is known to accumulate in the liver and kidneys. Accordingly, nickel is deposited in the skin, central nervous system, as well as in lungs and kidneys.
Biological dentistry is concerned with helping patients regain overall good health and wellness, and we look for anything that may be disrupting the immune system.
Galvanization is just one of the issues we look for, particularly in patients whose immune systems may show signs of compromise.
